Haha I'm going to be unfurloughed on 3rd of August so wage will be go back up... so you never know 🤣🤣🤣

Well yeah it's saved those delaque gangers for me and it's good that you can rescue stuff that's knackered from eBay.
I think for me once I've said something is done... It would be very hard for me to to back to. Otherwise you can get to the point of never finishing anything.

It's what I'm hoping! Back to work in about a week - I've been on 100% of my wage, but that's still a huge drop in income due to the job. Need the boost!

It's just a shame that eBay seems to be expensive at the minute, not seen much go for cheap recently. Either way it comes in handy!
I think you have to take that approach, otherwise one squad would keep you going for years 😂

Soon we'll both be back into full spending unwisely on plastic again 😂
I've been a bit of an eBay ban lately just trying to stop looking at it.

Ok so I did my plan this evening. I think it went fairly well.
Two coats of the chipping fluid. Then onto the weathered wood secret weapon paint (Which I must say went on really well considering my experience with other whites, definitely approve of Secret Weapon paints so far). Did a slight highlight.. Not massively visible. Then I left it around 30 mins. And went at it. I use a normal brush at first which was a poor choice.. switched to a dry brush brush quickly. I'm fairly pleased with it. I think in hindsight I left it closer to the hour mark so the chips weren't quite as big.

One thing that is strange that the colour that now shows where the paint has chipped... doesn't really look as bright as the original rust undercoat that I put on. @Lovecraft0110 do you know why that is? I'm happy with the results just curious really! Perhaps it's just my eyes playing tricks on me.

Plan for tomorrow will be to do the fluid on the knee and shoulder pads to then chip the green off.
@Lovecraft0110 I will need to apply gold and silver and what not by brush... in terms of the enamel wash stage.. would it best to get my metallic base colours in first before doing any washes?

Hey, looking good!

Yes, it always gets a bit darker or duller in the process, dunno why.

And yes, block in all the colours before the wash. At least that's how I do it! Even if you use different washes - some overspill won't matter, might even be desirable sometimes.

Haha thanks. It was quite nerve wracking doing it for the first time!! But fun. My fiancee even came and had a go 🤣 usually she just assists with placing grass tufts.

Great. I'm going to do the knee and shoulder green with the chip effect first and then I'll be blocking in the silver and gold... and then it'll be enamel wash time 😶😶😶😶

Oh one more question I'm afraid!! Why do we want to do a gloss varnish instead of a Matt varnish pre washing? Just curious.. the gloss varnish I have is so much easier to use than the Matt.. requires no diluting!! Just worried about too much shine if only doing a pin wash... but I suppose I'll be doing the rust steaks all over.

Green chipping done. Haven't managed to mask it perfectly so it will need some careful touch ups.. But the chip effect means it doesn't look such a problem

Looking gorgeous mate! I assume it's now brush work to block in the other colours before you can wash?

Thanks buddy. I really wasn't sure about it at first but the more I work on it the more excited i get about it. Also going for a black and yellow warning theme on the top rocket launchers which I think will be really effective.
The Mrs has started working again so ive been made to get up at a reasonable time this week... the bonus is I've been doing a few hours on it today. Going to do some more this evening and show you where I'm at. Really starting to come together!

I think once it's been lined it'll be tops mate, even before you start weathering. Love hazard stripes too, but never been brave enough to mess them up 😂

Fortunately I won't have to get up too much earlier than I already do for work (back in about a week), but the school run is going to be a shock in September!

Yeah it's definitely coming together. I need to tidy up the hazard stripes though. Also going to redo the weird tapestry thing.... doesn't look right. Need to fix a couple of bits on the brass too.

Debating about doing the exhaust and pipes under the rear armour maybe in warplock bronze instead just so it's not tonnes of silver.. what do you think? Any suggestions on the tapestry/scroll thing let me know!

Oh man the idea of the school run scares me. I think (If I don't lose my job..) my department aren't planning to be back in the office till end of the year or next year.... so I'm looking at least an extra hour of potential painting a day!! 😁
