Lord Felthius - Comic style

Decided I wanted to go for an entirely different approach then normal cos what the heck.

This guy is my inspiration for this.
Just trying to get some nice transition colours in. There is a subtle zenithal from a sandstone colour up to the weathered wood colour. And then ive also done the fur on the outer cloak with some transitions between 3 different browns.

Think this will be a really cool little project - looking at his face you definitely those the right one to paint comic-book style! Will this guy be white again, or are we back to green?

Yeah he will hopefully suit it. Worried about the fur cape thing and ill do it.. the style would be to lay ink between each fur tuft technically... not sure if that's doable or if it will look goood ha.

He will be staying white... not sure if to tone him down or not tho... i could sepia him up.. ive seen next level painting use sepia ontop of this white and then try to do a top highlight back with the white after. . But I'm not sure.

Could you not simply ink the whole thing and aggressively drybrush back to base colour? Would achieve pretty much the same effect.

You could go for an Andy Warhol dot effect, if you want to spend the rest of your life finishing the model! 😂

So... i ended up stripping him cos i was not happy with the base white. More rust orange should have been showing. 2nd time around and im alot happier.

Most of the base coats are now in.
Also ive found a nice reference pic too. Someone else wanting to do similar on death guard.

Base coating looks solid, and that plague marine is really nice!
How are you going to black line - pen or brush?

I was planning on brush 🤞🤞🤞
Wanting to use the new black liquitex ink for it. Nervous. Also annoyed as the guy who did the above never posted anything further... so not sure what he did for the chainmail bits

Have you tested it out at all? Interested in them myself, people seem to love them.
Could you get in touch? I would have though that a simple blacklined NMM effect would be most likley. ("simple...NMM" 😂)

No not yet this will be the first use of it. But i think airbrushing is the real boon for them. But i need to do some research i think people spray black and then use liquitex white for zenithal... and then one coat of whatever liquitex colour and your done.
Lol that would require finding the post again and then signing up for b&c i think. Cba haha lets just roll the dice brother!!

I've seen a couple of videos use the white for zenithals and it seems like some kind of witchcraft!

If you remember any of the details I'm happy to have a look for you, but their search function isn't the best (ours is pretty solid, I think 😜)
